The Stocks and Shares ISA products and funds available from SFS Invest Direct are not like building society / bank deposit accounts, as they can rise and fall in value and your capital is at risk.
Please note: the tax treatment of any investments depends on your individual circumstances and may be subject to change in the future.
The last few years have proven volatile for global stock markets, impacting on the returns delivered by investment funds – but that doesn’t mean you have to accept disappointing performance from your investments.
In view of the unpredictability of recent global events, what was once the most suitable fund to grow your money may no longer be the case. Without reviewing your investments to find out how their performance compares to others, you could ultimately fail to achieve your financial objectives.
SFS Invest Direct has researched the UK Registered Fund Marketplace (i.e. unit trusts and OEICs which can be held in and outside of an ISA/PEP wrapper) to compile our ‘Sin Bin’ list of poor performers. Because even the very best funds can experience short-term periods of underperformance, we have only monitored funds with a minimum three-year track record and which are actively managed (therefore all new and tracker funds have been excluded).
If your fund(s) appears in our Sin Bin list, you might wish to consider reviewing your investment(s)
Because past performance is not necessarily a guide to future returns, it’s well worth finding out the reasons behind why your fund has been underperforming. It could be a temporary trend and the medium to longer-term outlook remains positive for the fund, or it could be a long-term poor performance that shows few signs of changing.
Therefore, if you have any of the poor performing funds listed below, you may wish to re-register your holdings and then switch online to take advantage of our fund research tools. That way, once your account is created, you can make an informed decision over what to do about your investment(s).
Even if you hold investments in funds not listed below, you might still want to undertake a no-obligation financial review with SFS to ensure your money is suitably positioned towards your financial aspirations.
