Ethical Funds

Many people want to invest in high performing funds but not compromise their standards with regards to the environment. Ethical investments are those made according to environmental, social and personal values.

There are 3 main strategies:

  1. Negative screening - which excludes companies from portfolios that do not meet a particular fund’s criteria, for example pollution
  2. Positive screening - actively seeking out companies with positive, social and environmental characteristics, for example Sustainable Forestry
  3. Engagement - lobbying companies on social and environmental issues to help encourage improvements in Corporate Behaviour
